Nick Hafen

I'm the Head of Legal Technology Education at BYU Law School in Provo, Utah, where I teach about law and technology and train students on the tech they'll use in practice. I also have a part-time legal practice offering fractional general counsel services for startups and small businesses on a subscription basis.

I grew up near Detroit, Michigan, and got my JD and BA from BYU. I practiced law in Chicago at Kirkland & Ellis and then opened my own firm before coming back out to BYU.

I run BYU Law's Legal Tech Initiative, which includes our technology training series and LawX, our Legal Design Clinic.

I provide outside general counsel legal services to startups, solopreneurs, and small businesses on a subscription basis. Plans begin at $500 per month.

I provide legal tech consulting services for law firms and companies. My past experience has included AI use policies, document and process automation, and legal ethics.
